Knit Together
Over the past two years I have been known to champion what many are calling the “missional” movement of the church. Some call it an organic movement. Whatever it is called, I think it was the earliest movement of the church – and in biblical terms it was an “apostolic” movement. Apostles are “sent ones.” Over the years the church has taken an increasingly pastoral makeup – church people herding together in their closed flock. And so the missional proponents are seeking to reclaim the apostolic calling of God’s sent people. We are trying to be more outward. But we should not forget the pastoral calling either. Any church movement should seek to attain the fullness that God has in mind for the church, by equipping apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds and teachers. Here is a visual representation.

TC – I remember you sending me that little questionnaire re: which role one is in terms of spiritual gifts. This makes much more sense to me now. Everything makes much more sense to me now!!!!! Thank you for nurturing this sheep. BTW -the Greek is still tough but I like it. So glad you encouraged me to take it. In fact, I will probably take a second year before switching over to Hebrew. I really want to read the N.T. in Greek as a life long process. I will get you your CD back at some point.

Lise, That’s awesome on all counts. Now that you already have that first year of Greek under your belt, you are ahead, so you can afford to take the second year and still have time for Hebrew. Nice!
