Sunshine in Souls
I sit here asking God to lead me with His Holy Spirit as I write this. My eyes were drawn towards Matthew 6:22,23 “Your eye is a lamp for your body. A pure eye lets sunshine into your soul. But an evil eye shuts out the light and plunges you into darkness.”
My first reaction was, “Geez!” Tempted to go to the mirror and check out my eyes. Yes, I know this is a metaphor, but it also has literal meaning. Personally when I meet a person, I immediately go to the eyes. They tell me a lot about a person. You can read a million journeys and emotions in peoples eyes.
In him was life and that life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:4-5
Sigh … what a relief to know that Jesus who is the Light, came here to bring us light. It is not our doing that brings the light of sunshine into our souls; but the healing that came through Jesus dying for us. This Light is the one that radiates in and through us, outshining all darkness in our lives and creating us pure in the eyes of our Lord.
My prayer is that we let go of our “darknesses” allowing Jesus’ Light to be a radiant sunshine into our souls. When we continually do this, people will see. Some might misinterpret it as a new facial product, new hair do or a new outfit. You can simply reply smiling, “just got a little sunshine.”
